Students walk a mountain, and collaboratively build a contour map. In the process developing first hand, deep knowledge of what contour maps are, and what they mean.
Developed when I was teaching year 7 humanities, and borne out of our own struggles to understand what and how contour maps work, this world is one we are very proud of. In one lessons, our students had a solid understanding of how to read contour maps, and were able to tell us what they meant.
